Good Evening Robert Little Families!

It was wonderful seeing so many families out at our Annual Fall Open House on Tuesday night. Your children were so proud to show you their new classroom and teachers.  We look forward to working together with families for another amazing year.

Parking Lot Reminders

A reminder to all families around Safety Routines at the beginning and the end of the day. Already this year we have had a few close calls with children (and adults) crossing through our active parking lot.

Please do not park along the front of the school as this is our Bus and Fire Route.  Parking in this area interferes with the buses reglur routes, and in the case of a fire the emergency vehicles would be blocked.  Please no not park along the front of our school, we have ample parking in our parking lot, and in the parking spots on School Lane.

In the Morning

We have a ‘Kiss and Ride’ at the top of the drop off loop.  If you are bringing a child to school, please only have them get out of your car at this location, or you may park your car (in a parking spot) and walk them in.  Cars should not stop or park in the loop during morning drop off, we must keep the flow of cars moving. Please be patient, it may take a few minutes to get through the loop!!

In the Afternoon

We do not run a Kiss and Ride in the afternoon.  If you are coming to pick up your child, please either park in a parking spot and meet them on the blacktop, or wait in your car in the line of cars in the parking lot loop.  Please do not park and exit your car in the parking lot loop, this is a an active lane for cars and buses and we can not have parked cars blocking the flow of traffic. A reminder that children should never enter the parking lot to try to find the car, rather they need to wait until you the adult has seen them and can help them safely enter the car.

We are doing daily announcements about parking lot safety to help teach the children that they should only enter a parking lot if they see the car they are going to, they look both ways and enter the parking lot safely. If you are in our parking lot in the PM, please keep your eyes out for any children entering the parking lot from between parked cars. Please keep your speed low while exiting our parking lot loop to ensure student safety. We are hoping that with the collected efforts of the school, teachers and parents, we can ensure children learn the importance of Parking lot safety.

School Photo Day - Monday Sept 24th

A reminder that Monday September 24th is Picture Day!!

Time to Run for Terry

Robert Little’s annual Terry Fox Run is coming up on Friday, Sept., 28.  This year our school has a goal of raising $1,500.00 or $5 a student. The Terry Fox Foundation has a great reputation, with $.82 cents of every dollar raised going directly to cancer research.

You can donate online by visiting our school fundraising page www.terryfox.ca/RobertLittlePSA or by using the school pledge sheet.  Of course, you are welcome to donate more to The Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research.  For more information visit www.terryfox.org

Last Call- School Council Nomination Forms

School Council Nomination forms are due into the Main Office by September 24th at noon.  We hope to see our returning council members joined by new Parents and Families in our Robert Little Community.

What does it mean to be on our School Council?  School Council will meet a minimum of 5 times in a school year.  Staff will share what is going on in the school, and the Administration will share school goals and improvement planning. Historically our school council runs fundraising for Food and Holiday Basket Raffles.  Our School Council also supports our school with booking family events (such as least year’s Math Night).

We can not run our School Council Programs without support form our community. Please contact Mrs Golightly if you need any further information.  Our first meeting will be October 1st. At this meeting we will have Elections of our 2018-2019 School Council, a visit from our School Trustee and begin our initiatives for the 2018-2019 sch
