Good Evening Robert Little Families!

(Please read to the bottom of this email for important messages and attachments)

We have had a very busy week at Robert Little!  Our grade fives spent 2 days at Earthkeepers and learned so much about energy, our earth and themselves!  Carousel Players visited and performed for our school the Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito. Our students are preparing for Jump Rope for Heart, and our annual School Musical!  There is a lot going on inside the classrooms as well. Students are exploring our new STEAM resources and building and inventing using these new tools. There is so much going on at Robert Little, it will be a busy Spring!

Children’s Mental Health Week

May 6th-12th is Children’s Mental Health Week. We will be having a Character Assembly on Monday where the theme is Kindness and we will also be talking about Mental Health. Teachers will be doing some activities in their classrooms around Mental Health throughout the week so be sure to ask your children about all the awesome things they are doing in class! Thursday, May 9th is Children’s Mental Health Day and we will be wearing GREEN to bring awareness to the cause.

Education Week

It is also Education Week from May 6th-10th. The Halton District School Board is launching a social media campaign highlighting all the great things that happen in Halton schools. Below is a statement from HDSB:

“On Monday, May 6, we will kick off Education Week (May 6-10) by launching a system-wide social media campaign called #LoveMyHaltonSchool. The goal of the campaign is to showcase Halton District School Board spirit and celebrate Education Week by sharing the exciting activities that happen in HDSB schools every day.

Schools, staff, students, and parents/guardians are encouraged to share activities and initiatives taking place at their school (or one of our workspaces) on social media using the #LoveMyHaltonSchool hashtag.

We’ll run a #LoveMyHaltonSchool Social Media Contest on Monday, May 6. However we encourage you to continue using the hashtag on social media throughout Education Week!

To participate in the #LoveMyHaltonSchool Social Media Contest on Twitter, post (tweet) about learning/classroom activities and school initiatives using the hashtag: #LoveMyHaltonSchool on Monday, May 6.

#LoveMyHaltonSchool Social Media Contest Prizes:

  • FREQUENT TWEETER: The school that tweets the most during the day.

  • SELFIE: The school that posts the most “selfies”.

  • MOST LIKES: The school with the highest number of likes on their tweet by the end of the day.

  • BEST SPIRIT AWARD: The school that shows the most school or HDSB spirit.

  • MOST INNOVATIVE ACTIVITY: The school that demonstrates the most innovative way they’re approaching learning during Education Week.”

Robert Little Spirit Day

As part of Education Week and the HDSB social media campaign, we will be having a Robert Little Spirit Day on Monday, May 6th. All staff and students are encouraged to wear their Robert Little gear or blue and red to show off our North Star school spirit. We will tweet out pictures to show our school spirit. We will also do a school wide picture as we will have all the students in the gym for our Character Assembly. We look forward to seeing everyone wearing North star gear or blue and red!

Rafiki Bracelets - Me to We Club Rafiki Sales

At the beginning of the year, The Me to We students decided they wanted to sell rafiki bracelets as one of our fundraisers for the year.  They have been working hard making posters and writing morning announcements!

Rafiki Bracelets are inspired by Maasai beading traditions in Kenya, handmade with love by women we know as mamas—extraordinary, talented women who are beading their way to a brighter future for themselves and their families.

The bracelets will be sold for the month of May through CashOnline are $10-$15 each and will take about 2 weeks to arrive. With every Rafiki bracelet purchased, Robert Little's Me to We Club will be directing the money towards our pillar —education opportunities in India.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support!
