Good Evening Robert Little Families!

(Please read to the bottom of this email for important messages and attachments)

It has been a busy week at Robert Little! So much going on, and a few unexpected blips along the way!

It was lovely to have so many people out for our School council meeting on Monday.  We are very lucky to have such an involved and active parent community. Please know, Mrs Golightly and Mr Dykstra’s doors are always open for an update, a question or idea!

We know that we have put out a lot of requests to our school community over the past few months. Food Drives, Fundraising and Holiday baskets to name a few.  We do say no to many groups that ask for our support, and we do hope our community know how grateful we are for each can, each donation, each minute of time your family donates and gives to this school.

Looking ahead to the final 6 weeks of 2019, and we will have a few more ‘asks’ coming your way!  We have coupled again with the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation and the Halton Regional Police with the Toys for Tots campaign.  We will be asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for distribution to families and children in need across Halton. Our Me to We Club will be collecting toiletries and personal items for the Womens’ Shelter and we will be selling tickets for our School Council Major Fundraiser...Holiday Basket Raffle! Please, give where you can and only where you can. This is a time when many hands are out looking for support, and we do not want to place additional pressure on any of our families to give past the point you can financially handle.

So grateful to work in a community where we can collect almost 3000 items of non-perishables for our neighbours in need. Your generosity and kindness is noticed by the people who matter most, your children.

Holiday Baskets

One Week to go! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far to our Holiday Fundraiser! Here is how the Holiday Basket Draw will go!

  1. Each class chooses a theme and families are asked to donate an item to the class ‘basket’.

  2. Volunteers will come in on November 15th to wrap up the baskets for display

  3. Raffle Tickets go on sale - $20.00 each -  all funds directly supporting our school learning initiatives.

  4. Draw will take place at our Holiday Concert on December 12th

Remembrance Day

We will be holding our Remembrance Day assembly on Monday, November 11th at 10:40 a.m. in the gym. The assembly will run until just after 11:00 a.m. so we can honour the Moment of Silence at that time. Our Grade 4 French Immersion class will be reading In Flanders Fields and our Glow Choir will be performing a song. All families are welcome to attend the Remembrance Day assembly and we hope you will join us for this important day.

Experience Groove

We are looking forward to our first Community Event on December 3rd!  Experience Groove will be here at Robert Little all day moving and grooving with our students. That evening, families are invited to sign up for a free 40 minute Family Fitness Session!  After your session, School Council has arranged for a healthy snack to help you cool down!

There will be a limited amount of tickets available for this event!  There will be 2 sessions, 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and the evening is open to your entire family (from 1 to 101 years old!). There is no cost for the tickets, however due to fire code we do need to limit the amount of people grooving in the gym! Tickets will be open on School Cash Online on Wednesday November 13th at 4:00 PM.  We will send out a reminder email the day of so you are prepared!

We are grateful to our School Council and Mme Eastwood for organizing this great Family Event for our community!
