Good Evening Robert Little Families!

(Please read to the bottom of this email for important messages and attachments)

Introducing...Little Robert!

The election results are in!  With 92% of eligible voters casting their ballot on Monday October 21st, we have a name for our new Gnome! Little Robert will be our newest little mascot for school wide events with a whopping 42% of the votes going toward this traditional name!

Great Big Crunch

The Great Big Crunch was a huge success this week at Robert Little. Thanks so much to Halton Food for Thought for organizing the event and to Drummond Farms for donating the apples. Enough apples were donated for all students and staff. All classes counted down and crunched into their delicious apples at the same time. They also participated in apple related activities and all had an amazing time taking part in this year’s Great Big Crunch

Not Celebrating Halloween?

If your family chooses not to participate in the events surrounding Halloween, please let your child’s homeroom teacher know in advance.  We will have a separate area in the school where any child who wishes not to participate due to personal choice, faith or specific needs can spend the first block of the day.  These children will be actively learning with an educator and will return to class after the costumes have been taken off for the day.

**Please be sure to let your child’s teacher know by Tuesday October 29th at the latest if your child should not participate in our first block of activities.  We will not be able to accommodate with alternate plans after this date.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found bins are starting to overflow! We will be putting out all Lost and Found items on tables in the front hall next week. Please take some time next week when you are dropping off or picking up your child to look through the items to see if any of them belong to you. You could also take some time to look through the items if you are coming to the Halloween parade and assembly. All leftover Lost and Found items will be donated to charity.

Remembrance Day

On Saturday November 9th the annual Parade and Ceremony to recognise our Canadian Forces past and present will once again begin at the Olde Hide House.  This year, as in years past, we have been asked to send 1-2 representatives to carry our school Wreath in the Parade.

If you family is interested in carrying the wreath for our school could you please email Mrs Golightly directly. In the case of multiple families we will draw to choose our representative.

School Council Family Event

Due to a scheduling conflict we have moved our family Experience Groove Event to December 3rd!  Please save the date for an evening activity of fun and fitness!

More info to come soon!!

A Message from Me to We

The WE Club is busy organizing a food drive for the WE Scare Hunger campaign this October. Did you know that 1 in 4 children in our country experience hunger in a daily basis? Imagine trying to concentrate in school when you haven’t eaten breakfast or have good to eat at lunch? We are helping to feed Acton with our food drive. Please donate non-perishable food items and help us fill our front display cabinet.

There is a classroom challenge to see which Primary class and Junior class will donate the most food. The winning classes will decide if they want an extra recess or an extra gym period. There are tracking sheets outside of every classroom and we need more tallies. Let’s get doing, Robert Little!

Thank you kindly from the WE Club ambassadors.

A Message from Your Student Council

Dear Families,

Once again this year we are hosting a raffle fundraiser just in time for the holiday season. You can purchase tickets for $20 each for a raffle of Holiday baskets full of all types of donated goodies. All funds generated will benefit Robert Little Public School.

We are asking families who are willing and able, to send in new or unused items that align with their classroom's theme, to donate towards this raffle. Donations will be accepted between October 22nd to November 15th.

Holiday baskets will be available for you to see in our front foyer during our Student-Led Interviews in late November. More details will follow at a later date.

Thank you for your generosity.
